Teens Love Lit in Partnership With Wealthsimple
In February 2022, we launched a six-month proof-of-concept program in collaboration with Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) and Wealthsimple Foundation. A unique platform dedicated to stories for teens, written by teens. TCHC has 2,100 buildings in more than 100 city neighbourhoods. A number of these communities have been disproportionately impacted by gun violence, gangs, addiction and mental health issues.
The teen storytellers we featured don't typically get exposure outside of their own neighbourhoods. Their worlds are confined to their community and their awareness of what is possible is determined by their immediate surroundings. Sharing their stories and connecting with a community helped change that.
What We Achieved:
We teamed up with institutions such as Father Henry Carr SS (Toronto), plus youth groups in Kentucky (USA) and Jamaica, to find compelling teen narratives.
